HOME MEETINGS

Chapter 6
SPEAKING IN LIFE

WEEK 4 – THURSDAY
Bible Reading:
Jn 6:63; Eph 5:19; Col 3:16; 1 Tim 2:4; 3:2; 5:17; 6:3; 2 Tim 1:13

Read and pray: “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another, with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to God.” (Col 3:16)

LABORING IN THE WORD AND IN TEACHING

We have printed thousands of pages on the truth, and most of you have bought them and placed them on your shelves. We all know the terms and subjects, yet we simply do not know how to present and how to teach people.

We can all add and subtract, yet we do not know how to teach. Now we must apply ourselves. First, those who take the lead must be willing to educate themselves, equip themselves, and prepare themselves by laboring in the Word and in teaching.

Then they must bring the saints into these experiences. I want to encourage all the saints in the Lord’s recovery to rise up to diligently seek the truth.

We have the edibles. This means we have many printed pages, many messages. Regardless of how busy each of you are daily, I believe you can set aside thirty minutes a day. You could set aside ten minutes in the morning.

Suppose you get up at six in the morning. Could you not get up ten minutes earlier? I believe you could. You could also set aside another ten minutes at lunchtime. Devote ten minutes to dive into the Word.

Put a Life-study message in your pocket, and wherever you are, if a little time is left, take advantage of it and read a few pages.

The Life-study messages are not to replace the Bible. But all the content of the Life-studies is based on the biblical verses. Then at night, before sleeping, it is easy to have fifteen minutes.

Consider how much time has been wasted in the past. Brothers and sisters, consider how much time is spent on the phone instead of spending it on the Bible and the Life-study messages. We always excuse ourselves saying, “I don’t have time,” yet there is time to spend ten minutes reading the newspaper.

Please, for your education, for your edification and growth in life in the Lord, for the Lord’s interests and for His recovery, would you redeem your time from all these wastes?

Do not spend so much time on newspapers or on the phone. Although you may answer what they want, they do not induce you to talk more. Do everything to save time. I believe it will be easy for everyone to set aside thirty minutes a day.

Besides the Life-study messages, you have the Bible, especially the Recovery Version with footnotes. Almost all the difficult points are explained in the notes. The notes will give you much life supply.

If you open a Life-study at any line, you will gain something profitable, but it would be better to read the Life-study consecutively. Choose a message and begin to read it, and consider the verses quoted on the first page. This will take at most four minutes. Gradually, little by little, you will be constituted properly with the truths.

In 1 Timothy 2:4 we are told that God desires all men to be saved. Besides this, God desires every saved one to come to the full knowledge of the truth. But it bothers me that we are not like this.

In the past twelve years, as a farmer I have cultivated many edibles for all of you, and I thank the Lord that you have bought them and kept them. However, the sad thing is that you do not cook them enough and do not eat them enough.

This is not appropriate. We have the edibles, but we do not cook them sufficiently and do not eat them enough. All the edibles are unused, that is, wasted. Learn to handle the word of Christ, which is the word of life. First, we must allow the word of Christ, the living Person, to dwell in us. Then we speak by teaching.

Ephesians 5:19 says, “Speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and psalming with your heart to the Lord,” but Colossians 3:16 says, “...teaching and admonishing one another... with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs.”

Speaking is a little free, but teaching is regulated. We all must acquire the living word of the living Lord, and then we will teach one another. Learn this. This is a word not only for those who take the lead, for the elders, but for all the saints.

Allow the word of Christ to dwell in you, teaching you in all wisdom. Bible scholars have difficulty deciding whether the phrase “in all wisdom” qualifies “let the word... dwell in you” or qualifies “teaching.” According to our punctuation it qualifies “teaching”: “Teaching in all wisdom.”

To teach in all wisdom, we must first learn the Word in all wisdom. If you do not study the Bible with all wisdom, how can you teach it with all wisdom?

In John 6:63 the Lord said, “...the words which I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.” Everything we teach, everything we speak, must be words of life.

The elders must be apt to teach and must labor in the word and in teaching (1 Tim 3:2; 5:17). All these words must be healthy words (1 Tim 6:3; 2 Tim 1:13), and the teaching must be according to godliness (1 Tim 6:3).

In Timothy, godliness simply means God manifested in the flesh (3:16). This means you need to practice the principle of incarnation. When you speak, when you teach the healthy words of the Lord Jesus, you must exercise to such an extent that people see God manifested in you. This is teaching, speaking, according to godliness. This requires much learning and much practice.

We should not be so ignorant, remaining in the darkness of today’s Christianity. Currently there is only darkness, but the light shines here in the Lord’s recovery. We should enter into the light so that we may be enlightened, rescued, and released from our ignorance.

Surely I pray to the Lord that you would take this word and have a complete change to practice what the Lord is doing today.
