Home meetings, week 4, Saturday, chapter 7

HOME MEETINGS

Chapter 7
SPEAKING THE LIVING AND RICH WORD
FOR THE FOUR THINGS

WEEK 4 – SATURDAY
Bible Reading: Eph. 4:30

Read and pray: “Jesus answered him, ‘If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.’” (John 14:23)

THE HOLY WORD AND THE HOLY SPIRIT

We give thanks to the Lord, because on this earth He has given two great gifts to humanity and to His chosen people. One of these is the Word, the Bible. In this universe and on this earth, such a book is called “The Book”. Bible is a Latin word that means “The Book”. This is The Book, the unique book. If there were no Bible, the earth would be filled with darkness. The Bible is one of the greatest gifts the Lord has given to mankind.

Our God has also given us another gift, the Holy Spirit. The Lord Jesus, being Himself God, passed through the wonderful processes of incarnation, human living, all-inclusive death, resurrection, and ascension.

Through all these wonderful and excellent processes, He finally accomplished two things. First, He breathed the Spirit of life into His disciples on the day of His resurrection.

Then He took another step to pour out the Spirit upon His disciples in His ascension. In His resurrection He breathed the Spirit into us, and in His ascension He poured out the Spirit upon us. In this way He baptized us into one Body.

We have the Bible, the Holy Scriptures, and the Spirit, the Holy Spirit. These are the two greatest gifts we have today. However, we always neglect these two gifts.

We may have the Bible on our shelf or even in our pocket, but it has never entered into us as it should. Moreover, many times we grieve the Holy Spirit.

Ephesians 4:30 says, “And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.” The Greek word “for” means “with a goal to reach.” This means that the sealing is not once for all, but that it continues, that it goes on.

We are under this sealing throughout the entire day. The Spirit seals us so that we may reach the goal of the redemption of our body. However, the real situation is that most of the time we do not care about the Holy Spirit nor about the holy Word.

Our main concern is with ourselves. As Christians we have been saved by the Lord, and He has granted us grace. Today we are seeking Him and loving Him, yet we still care for ourselves and not for the holy Word or the Holy Spirit.

We need a complete change to care for these two gifts. We must enjoy these two gifts hour by hour, day by day.

We must take the word of the Bible so that we may have a rich deposit. Then, when we go to the meeting with such a deposit, at any moment we may speak of a check of one hundred dollars, one thousand dollars, or even one million dollars.

When you go to the meeting with a deposit of the living and rich word, surely the Spirit will distribute to you the deep word of wisdom and the rich word of knowledge.

The way to maintain such a deposit is by laboring in the word of God. Just as we have no reason not to eat physical food, no matter how busy we are, we have no reason not to taste the spiritual food.

Today’s Christians are very weak and poor, and they are weakened because of starvation. If you are resolute to follow the Lord and His recovery, and if you truly love Him, you need to love His word.

The Lord Jesus said clearly: “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word” (John 14:23). Daily we must take His Word. Learn to take the Word and gain a deposit. Then, when you go to the meeting, it will be easy for you to receive some distribution of the Spirit, whether the word of wisdom or the word of knowledge. In this way you will speak by the Spirit. For this you must keep your spirit in prayer.

I have much experience concerning this, for I speak a great deal. Recently, before a meeting, I felt that I had no other way but to pray much. The inward feeling urged me that praying only a little would not be adequate. It would be like someone who goes to the gas station to fill up the tank but leaves before the tank is filled.

You need to pray. Not only this, but when you go to the meeting, you must go with your spirit in prayer. Then when you speak, you will speak with a praying spirit. While I am speaking, I pray.

I am trusting in the Lord. I believe that while I am speaking, He is a spirit with me. In this way you will spontaneously have the perception, the assurance, that you are speaking the holy Word with the Holy Spirit. Then you will have boldness.

We need this kind of speaking. We need the saints to speak the living and rich word by the praying Spirit. Then through this praying Spirit, you will surely perceive in the Spirit who is bold among you.
