HOME MEETINGS
Read and pray: “But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.” (1 Cor. 6:11)
If the Lord is not the Spirit, how can we be one spirit with Him? If we are going to experience and enjoy Christ, first we must know that Christ is the Anointed One, filled with the Spirit, and that we are united to Him as one spirit.
Before hearing the gospel and being inspired to believe in the Lord Jesus, we did everything we desired by ourselves. On the day we called on His name, we were saved and confirmed in the Anointed One.
We were made one spirit with our Savior. We may not be aware of this fact, but the way we speak to others exposes whether we know the way to experience Christ or not.
The correct way to speak to others is by exercising our spirit. How do we exercise our spirit to have contact with the Lord? How do we practice it? From my experience, the best way is to pray.
To pray does not mean that I must go to my room and close the door. I can pray spontaneously: “Lord, I am going to spend some time with my brother. Lord, be with me. Be one with me.” Before going to see the brother, perhaps I need to go to the bathroom. As I go to the bathroom, I can pray: “Lord, thank You, You are my life, and be my expression.”
Even while in the bathroom, I can pray. I can pray at all times. The brother is in a nearby room, and I continue praying: “Lord, be my speaking. Lord, be my utterance. Lord, be the sentences I will speak to my brother.” We must practice this all the time, realizing that the Lord is truly one with us.
Over time, we will experience that this Christ, whom God has confirmed to us and with whom we have been filled to be one spirit, is simply our conversation. Our conversation with a brother is simply Christ.
Christ is so rich. He is our utterance, our thought, our words, and our expression. He is the content of our conversation. He is the entire conversation. This is an experience of the riches of Christ.
Suppose you are still speaking with a brother and someone says that your wife wants to talk to you. Then you begin to pray: “Lord, be with me. Be with me to meet my wife. Lord, be one spirit with me. I believe that I am one spirit with You. Lord, now is the opportunity for You to prove me. Be one with me as I meet my wife. Lord, be my utterance, and be my eyes that look at my wife.”
Then you go to meet your wife. This meeting with your wife will simply be Christ. Your wife may treat you badly, yet you pray: “Lord, You are with me. Yes, Lord, this situation is Yours.” Then you will experience Christ as your patience, your endurance, your long-suffering, and your love that surpasses all knowledge.
If at that moment your cousin were there and saw the situation, he would be surprised. He would admire the way you met with your wife. In this way you will experience Christ whenever you meet any person in any situation.
A young student can learn how to experience Christ in studying his schoolbooks. He can pray: “Lord, here is the booklet, and tomorrow will be the final exam. Lord, prove that You are one with me. Lord, read this booklet with me.” If he does so, I assure you that he will experience Christ as his understanding and as his wisdom to comprehend all the secrets of his schoolbook.
He will even experience Christ as his good memory. Then the next day when he takes the exam, he will not need to feel so pressured and frightened. He will only need to pray: “Lord, I am one with You and one spirit with You. Not only in speaking—Lord, be in the classroom today, taking the exam—I am one with You. Lord, be so real. Be so real to the angels. Be so real to the entire universe that I am one with You.” I assure you that the young man will experience Christ as his wisdom and often as his answer. This is the way.
According to my observations, there are not many Christians who experience and enjoy Christ in this way. I am very burdened about our situation. Message after message has been given, yet when we come to the practical things of our daily life, we are people without Christ. In doing things, we are people without Christ.
In studying schoolbooks, we are people without Christ. We practice being one spirit with the Lord only during the routine time of prayer. Even in most prayers, we do not practice it enough.
We cannot go to the meeting and speak to the saints without first having prayed: “Lord, You must vindicate that I am one spirit with You. Lord, I do not like to go there and speak by myself. You must go with me. You must be my thoughts there. You must be my feelings in my speaking. You must be the words, the terms, and the expressions of my sharing. Lord, You must even be my speaking.” With such a prayer, we are simply not quick to speak.
Even though we have much knowledge of the Bible, I do not trust in that. Certainly, we need biblical knowledge. But we must speak not only with the words or verses of the Bible. In our speaking we must be one spirit with the Lord.
I beg you to practice this. Do not take this simply as another message. Since I came to this country, more than three thousand messages have been given and printed. But the living of some of the saints saddens me. Thousands have heard and read the messages and have even participated in the trainings of such messages. One can live the messages only when one has the practical experience of being one spirit with the Lord.
