How to Be Useful to the Lord, Week 2, Chapter 6, Saturday

HOW TO BE USEFUL TO THE LORD

CHAPTER SIX

WEEK 2 - SATURDAY

Bible Reading: Rev. 21:11, 18, 23-25; 22:3-5

Read and Pray: "There will no longer be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and His servants will serve Him." (Rev. 22:3)

HOW TO BE USEFUL IN THE LORD’S HAND
THE LIFE IN CHRISTIANS IS A LIFE THAT SERVES

Those who serve God often ask, “How can I become useful to the Lord? How can I be useful in the Lord’s hand and truly serve Him?” First, we must see that the Lord’s life in us is a life of service. To perceive this characteristic, revelation is needed.

Many Christians probably know that the Lord’s life is holy, good, meek, radiant, and so on, but they do not realize that the Lord’s life in them is a life of serving. Why don’t they know this? Because their spiritual knowledge is often limited by natural concepts. In our natural thinking, we may only focus on holiness, goodness, and meekness. Rarely do we think about how to serve God. In reality, God’s life comes to us so that we may serve Him.

ALL THE INHERENT CHARACTERISTICS
OF THE LORD’S LIFE ARE FOR SERVICE

Revelation 21 and 22 show that, on the one hand, the entire situation of the New Jerusalem is holy and radiant (21:11, 18, 23-25), and on the other hand, in the New Jerusalem, the final destination, there is eternal service to God (22:3-5). This clearly indicates that all who are in the New Jerusalem are holy to serve God. They are full of light to serve God. They are good to serve God.

The life of the new creation that they possess is for serving God. All the inherent characteristics of the Lord’s life in us are for service. Love is for service, light is for service, holiness is for service, righteousness is for service, goodness is for service, and spirituality is for service. All the special qualities inherent in the Lord’s life are for service.

We can say that service is the goal, and the special qualities inherent in the Lord’s life are the qualifications and requirements to achieve that goal. A life that is not holy cannot serve God. A life that is not radiant cannot serve God. A life that is not righteous cannot serve God. A life that is not spiritual cannot serve God. The characteristics of life are not the goal. They exist so that we may reach the one and only goal: serving God.

THE LIFE IN THE GOSPELS

Many Christians desire to be holy, spiritual, and victorious. However, we must ask why we desire these things. Why do we aspire to be holy? Why do we aspire to be spiritual? Why do we aspire to overcome? We should desire them for one purpose alone: to serve God. The life in the Gospels is a life that is holy, radiant, good, spiritual, heavenly, strong, and victorious.

However, we must remember that the purpose of such a life is service. The Lord Jesus was holy for service, righteous for service, and strong and victorious for service. The Gospels show us that the life of Jesus of Nazareth was a life of serving.
